Johan Plomp, bassist, composer, conductor and arranger, completed two bachelors at the Hilversum Conservatory.
As bass player, (co) bandleader or sideman he appears on more than 25 CD’s with Johan Plomp’s Optophobia, Fleurine (feat. Brad Mehldau), Mete Erker Trio and many others.
Working as conductor, arranger and/or composer he appears on more than 25 albums from artists like Laura Fygi, the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and The Metropole Orchestra & DeWolff.
For over 25 years Johan is also faculty member of the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he is a teaching composing, arranging and big band. Johan is also an internationally renowned jazz pedagogue, working with student bands all over Europe.
